That said, I love BnM poles. I own several, in various models and lengths. However, the West Point poles are just way too flimsy for my likes. They just don't seem to have any backbone.

If you are looking for a good, inexpensive rod, take a look at the Hi-Tech Jiggin' Stick. I bought a couple from the guys at Grizzly Jig (item JS102) for $16.95 each. I'm tellin' you... for under $20, you would have a very hard time beating this rod... sensitive tip, yet good backbone... just my opinion.

You almost always get what you pay for with rods. Almost. The only exception that I have encountered myself is with the pinnacle rods. Those older silver fiberglass that you use to buy for about $15 each. I have 2 - 12 footers that I have been using for years and have caught hundreds of crappie, stripers and catfish up to 17 lbs on them. They are both still going strong. I usually use the 14 foot bnms and have for probably 5 years now. Only time i have broken them is when I let a seat flop on three and break off the ends. I think the west points are their cheaper version. A good 12 to 14 foot rod is going to be in the $50 range unless you buy used which is what I always do. I have 12 now total and ended up with about $30 per rod.

I would take a look at the B&M double touch. For the price on a graphite they are hard to beat. Fiberglass can really get heavy after awhile.

If it feels good in your hand, buy it. BnM are good poles.

As some of you know I have a neck breaking hookset and am very hard on a crappie rod.....
I've used BnM poles for years mostly Uncle Bucks 10 to 12ft'ers, most all of them break about 2" from the tip eye and what I've being doing is putting a replacement eye on where it breaks.
Don't lose any sensitivity or action to the jig and have been getting several years and thousands of break neck hooksets without any problems......
Should I call my BnM rod a 11' 10" rod....LOL

as much as i dont like china , they make some really cheap so so quality crappie rods .
one brand i know of thats popular and cost around 50 bucks or a bit more each hits the dock in Houston at 5 bucks each .

Same boat as you. Iv tried them and they let me down. Not a fan.

I recently bought two BnM 10' black widows, so far so good. Paired them with Shimano FX 1000's using 6 pd test line. Only caught little stuff so far but I like the feel.
