In search of a jig that reasonably heavy enough yet has small hook for smaller bug or crayfish rubber pattern is quite difficult without resorting to expensive European or JDM purchases. TroutMagnet has proven affective in my home water but it’s light weight head proof difficult to cast further than 30 or 40 feet where bigger fish often hang out, that’s probably why I started this thread in pursuing the rod that could cast such lures..
maybe I was looking at the wrong place..lol. I should be looking at how to make some jig head to suite my need. I even devised these just to try out...Name: IMG_1951.jpg

I suggest using Dinsmore AAA shot. It’s soft lead and weighs about 1/32 oz. Most fly shops (including Bass Pro and Cabelas) carry it.

Small jigs easily made with solid brass bead, jig hooks down to size 12's and sequin pins. The one here is 1/32oz.Name: 20200622_110821.jpg

Just bend the end of the sequin pin up to create a barb for holding plastic baits. Name: 20200519_164354.jpeg

The Dinsmore BB shot weighs about 1/64 oz, if you want to try to make some smaller jigs.

I do admit the bait keeper wire is cool idea. 1/32 oz (.886 grams) still on the light side for many of my American rods, Fenwick , Lightning Rod, but it be about perfect for the newly acquired Tict Ice Cube. Thanks for sharing Tom!
