Nice fish there. This site, is to help everyone, become better anglers. So if having questions, on different tactics, just ask, and others will respond. Don't be afraid to post your catches, just because you might only use one method.

I don’t post much lately but I’m still around checking forum everyday. I’m still learning how to be a better panfish fisherman but my usual crappie would be from same spot same type lure which might not be fun for you guys, beside that all the slab are gone only a small group of 12” hanging around. Just some pics of last week catches.
S10CHEVY is correct !! Besides that, we all love pics & videos & reports, even from places we're never likely to fish.
To tell you the truth, if you could see my posts from the first 10yrs of my membership, you'd see "one method" "one bait" for the biggest part of those 10yrs. That would be casting the banks with a 1/16oz weedless jig & a hollow tube (for the most part, as I did add some SouthernPro Crappie Slugs to my arsenal ... when I first started shooting docks).
(My jig bag weighs >20lbs & that's just the one I take with me. If I put all the other plastics/jigs for Crappie that I have & seldom use, it would likely weigh as much, or more.To say the Bait Monkey has had his way with me, over the years, would be a maximum understatement.
)
That are long discontinued Daiwa pixy. About 15 years old but been upgraded with shallow spool. Pair with Chinese ultralight rod 6’3. The lowest casting that I don’t have to worry about backlash and get some distance 40-50’ is 1/24oz jig head with baby shad. (1/32oz Trout magnet double cross jig head). Line is 8lb braid. I could cast 1/64oz trout magnet but distance is no where fishable 15-20feet and accuracy is bad.
There are plenty of new model BFS reel (bastcaster with shallow spool) both cheap Chinese brand or well know brand like shimano, Daiwa and Abu Garcia. Price range from 50 - 400 dollars.
I hardly use baitcaster this year because I feel it is overpower when targeting panfish and that half of fun when fishing.
ClearCreek thanked you for this post
looks like fun to me , no matter the size and or method . the one thing about this forum that makes it stand out head and shoulders above ALL the other crappie places on the internet is a big fat ZERO tolerance for downing anyone for how they go about ketchn crappie and or the size of the fish you ketch ,that there is quite refreshing and even more so in the presently highly stagnant world in which we live in .![]()
I go to LA area quite a bit to see our son and grandaughters so looked up your home lake and it is amazing how well you do on a truly recreational paradise in Socal! So much lake lice on it and it is party city! Our son is up by castaic lake in valencia and wondering if it could be as productive as Canyon as it doesn't have any houses on it and have heard how productive some of these lakes can be. Plus our kids are BORING and quarantine themselves as a normal way of life so always looking for something to do.
