    Default Me and ol’ Sam

Me an ol’ Sam was needing to go on vacation but wanted to stay close to home because of all the restrictions and still be able to fish.
So we decided to head out for Branson on Taneycomo where the girls could shop a little and we could fish the crisp clear cold water for trout.
Fishing in the mornings was like sitting in the ac, afternoons well it got to hot for us. I think we’re ready to go back to chasing crappie in early mornings and under cover of darkness.

Here’s a few pictures we took. As bad as we wanted to jump in to cool off the water was just too cold at 49 degrees but the ducks was almost too much for ol’ Sam to resist.

I forgot to mention that we did catch several stocker rainbows but it’s just to hard to get pictures of them wiry rascals and keep ol Sam from a lickin them to death when you are catch and release fishing.
I asked da wife if we was a gonna have fish for dinner and she said “not trout, we will if’n you bring in some crappie” haha no fish for dinner.

Nice! Taneycomo is one of my favorite travel fishing places. For much the same reason you stated. I can fish while the wife hits the antique shops. There are also decent dinning options. We usually get a cabin and leave the boat at home. I can catch plenty of fish off the docs. I usually use my crappie rigs with small jigs and spinners. Sometimes, I bring my fly fishing rig and do a little wading

I’m jealous. I’m down here sweating like there’s no tomorrow and you’re talking about AC and 49* water. I’ll take some of that. Sam looks ready to go, looks like a good friend to spend the day with. Good job.

Well, me an ol’ Sam made it back from the big city of Branson and away from that cold water. We got the long poles put back on and gonna go early in the morn to chase up some crappie for dinner tomorrow night.
After that, even though it’s vacation week, we’ll probably have to get back to doing chores and leave the fish alone for a few days.
