I've caught a few in the floating docks and around the corner in the brickyard landing marina during the winter. I usually only fish that area during the winter when there's a south wind.

Curious if anyone’s had luck in the past finding crappie around there? I’ve tried fishing the rip rap and the deeper water near the marine police dock but no crappie yet, just bass and bream. I’m really just wanting to know if I should cross this spot off my list or keep trying.

the points of the jetty's next to the marine police shed are great in the winter and early spring ....you should set a jig 4 ft deep below a weighted cork and cast off the points of the jetty as far as you can toward the river channel...if you see baitfish in those coves, fish under them same way....or just throw a jig by its self and count it down to 6 or so...just above bottom works in those coves lots of days but if no baitish, no crappie either usually.....the harbor itself has crappie too but boat traffic makes it hard to fish and no fishing from docks allowed...
I’ve caught them in and around the rescue squad house. Don’t remember the time of year.

Guy I work with did really good around the rescue squad dock in late February early March.

Thanks for the replies folks. I’ve fished there a couple of times since April. Last time was at dark and a couple hours afterward, caught 2 white bass and had a few more bites that I couldn’t get a hook set on. Could’ve been crappie but could’ve been more white bass too. From all the responses it seems maybe I got started just a bit too late in the year.
