Nice, I wonder if your drag was squealing like a Banshee also! I have caught one of those danged things the last two times out, they will thump a jig like no other.

The Japanese are masters with graphite. The Major Craft Fine Tail Banshee is a high end rod with very high graphite content that is extremely sensitive. I knew what I had and I laid with it. Of course I was using 2.3# test ester mono which was within the line rating for the rod. But I just knew it was going to snap. Look at the bend in the pics....keep in mind the graphite content in this rod is in the high 90 percent range. I was determined to get this fish in. I don’t like hooking up with drum but once hooked the challenge is on....LOL.

It did for a while. Took me a while to wear him down. Our waters are a mess. Up in the lake 58 degrees.....below the dam 60 degrees.....and looked like an ocean. I couldn’t get to usual spots due to water release. Surely next week I should find some beds.

I would have paid good money to watch that fight. Good job getting your hands on him.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
A fight for sure!
That looked like a workout, for you and the rod. Congratulations.

I caught some big bass recently, but nothing like that! Well done.
Two recent big fish losses on TM/g-jig: one heavy bass on and then - nothing. Line cut clean somehow. Another started with violent drag run in timber and got me hung on trees, finally broke off. Big spots or LM. Happens when you jig trees for crappie.
