Thread: HOG ROCKFISH ?

NOT striper , but yes on the rocks , not HOG but more like little piggies
Went west and had a grand time , did not harvest anything but to be sure I don't have to actually ice something down to have a good trip .
Visited our little place in the woods to try to bring home some bacon . The hogs didn't cooperate but boy howdy we were covered up in playful deer . The pasture was plum full of deer as we have ever seen it .
They were running and playing in the early crisp temperatures in western Texas and it was really pleasant to watch so many at the same time. Only saw one hog and it appeared to not want to get put on ice as it slipped into the woods never to be seen again .
So we did a little work and went our separate ways and I went over to a spot near the ranch after I was informed I could walk in if I wanted but I wasn't allowed to drive in .
So walk I did and try and try to get bit and after about 45 minutes and only one take ( that I lost right after I set the hook ) I said oh well maybe not today on the rock fish .
I hesitated on the way out and said maybe I should try a pink jig , I don't have several other colors in my pocket ,so why not . First drop in 6 food of water and KABOOM ,big fat rock fish ….
Well I finally figured em out it seemed and managed another and the third one FLAT busted my line and took my only pink jig ! So I tied on a different jig and next ROCK fish was a dandy big girl . She didn't budge an inch when I set the hook and first thought was,oh great I don't lost me a jig …..Then I noticed it had some give , just a bit at first and kinda had the hung on some ones line feel . BY golly only for about 1.2 seconds and out she came like a bullet ,screaming my drag ! She had me thinking bass for sure and when she did surface I was like WOW that's a REALLY NICE crappie on the rocks by golly !
I managed to ketch a half dozen real fat ones total and missed a few others and down the road I went .
But I had time for a time delay photo of her .
The man that let me in asked where my bucket was to carry fish and I told him no sir I aint cleaning any fish today, I am only here to ketch a few .
Got home just about lunch time and ate a bite and ….
I looked at camera cards and what was revealed was the secret I always wondered about …
how do they make them wonderful lil smokies and what part of the pig do they come from ?
KABOOM is the word yawl and to be sure ...it was fun run
