Water temp 55-57. Wind 8-12 from south. Because of the wind, I was unable to get boat control to get good presentation spider-rigging minnows. I moved behind a point leading into shallow water, and fished in 14 FOW.
Fishing was slow, maybe 1 fish per hour, but the size was good. Hard to get good presentation in the wind, and lots of stumps, so had a good number of break-offs. Then I saw some loons chasing bait nearby. Eased over there and caught a 16" 2# 6oz beauty. Probably my PB, certainly the only on weighed and photographed. Battery on digital scale dead, soI asked a nice man at the landing to use his and take my picture. She a bald eagle catch a fish too!

Went back today, but got there after the front hit. Caught 2 crappie, 2 yellow bass(barfish), and a small bass. The wind was cold, but the water temp was 64 degrees. Should have gone early.
The wind blew my straw hat off and it sank!! Couldn't believe it didn't float! Tried to catch it with a crank bait, but no luck. I'm going to miss that hat!!
escout,
I am sorry for your loss. I know the feeling and that's why I now fasten a couple of bobbers to the hatband.
