Limestone Creek
Hey guys, I was hoping y’all could share some information with me about Limestone Creek/Limestone Bay/Arrowhead Landing. I’ve got a 14’ jon boat with a 25hp Johnson, a 55# thrust trolling motor, and a garmin depth finder. I know it is shallow in the bay and there are hazards like tree stumps. Are these tree stumps scattered throughout the main part (where the pvc poles have some piles marked) or are they mainly near shores? The idea is to put in at arrowhead and motor across the bay to the north side where I saw the gravel pits were marked on another CDC post. Checking to see how cautious I needed to be when crossing the main body of water. Besides the gravel pits, are fish usually found all throughout the bay? I’ve fished the bank south of the boat ramp a few times but have never caught anything. Was wondering if I was wasting my time, or just had a run of bad luck. My wife goes with me and she really enjoys the bay as opposed to the large river with even larger boats and waves. Hoping to turn limestone creek into not only a good boat floating spot, but also a good fishing spot.

I see boats fly through there and I am puckered up just watching them. Never seen anyone hit anything. I can idle out and hit every stump in the place. They are scattered about all over. Best to take it easy until you learn it a little. Fish are caught from the mouth at the river to as far north as you can basically go. It is a good area but it has been pretty stingy this year.

That place is very stumpy. There are three channels there that can be traveled easier. Take it easy and Just know that you probably gonna hit a stump or two so just go slow and stay seated while motoring and it can be done safely. It is a very good option for what you described and once it is learned it can pay off.

during summer pool which happens early april, you can run anywhere pretty much, but at winter pool which is sometimes 5 feet below summer, you had better be idleing across those stumps …..this years rains have moved a lot of large trees from the creeks out onto the flat.....also a straight shot across the stumps to get to the creek and pits will take you across shallow stumps that I hit the other day with water near full pool...you can see an island from the ramp and if you go toward it and turn left 150 yard short of it keeping the bank 100 yards off your right side you can idle all the way back into limestone creek....steer to the right of the tree you can see laying on the flat or you will be in 6 inch water.....the bay itself has lots of crappie in it and a good way to catch them is to start in the middle and let the wind drift you across the stumps and if you catch a couple throw the anchor and work em…its not usually a bank fishing thing there....I do best on the southern half of the bay as the northern half is mostly is shallow unless or until high water....

Just idle. Motor raised as high as possible and still suck cooling water. You’re going to learn as you get experience and speed up in certain areas.
