Jim and I fished Lake Oconee yesterday and caught 17 fish in the 11-14 inch range. We had not been able to fish together for several weeks as Jim was nursing a bad back. It was good to be back in the boat with him. We had a rough start due to the fog. We finally got the lines out and started trolling around 8:30 as the fog lifted. Jim has a new Terrova TM and he was learning the ropes with it. He caught on quick as soon as we could see. The water was 54-55 degrees and the bite was steady. The fish are still heading back to the timber once the sun gets high but stragglers can be caught in open water. The mouths of coves seem to be a good bet right now especially if there is timber near by.

Great video Jay!!!! I was there also yesterday and kept 11. I'm terrible with with names but I talked to the Gentleman in the ranger and pointed you and Jim out in his boat. You guys looked busy so I figured I'll say hi next time. My plan was to head south but with the fog I stayed close. Again great report!!!

I am glad that Jim is feeling good enough to fish! That was me and my brother in the Ranger. We kept 25 over 11" and released about 10 under 11". Jay, that fog was really thick. We were able to idle out at daybreak but only because we had the GPS to guide us. We probably caught 10 keepers before the fog lifted.

Dang, Jay, that video makes me want to go fishing. Very nice.
Holiday family stuff is over, and I have the whole week and weekend, too. Think it will be crowded on Oconee tomorrow? I don't wannna be hauling a boat on the interstate Sunday, no. Figured I'd fish local (Lanier or Lathem) Sunday.

I thought the better of it and stayed home. I'll be headed to Oconee next week, whenever the wind dies down. High winds and lightning are about the only two things that keep me off the water. Got a couple of improvements to make to the boat today, and will tie some more jigs after that. I did order a net like yours, saved $10 with holiday discount, and snagged a couple of Denali 12 foot rods for trolling on sale at Grizzly.
