Long lining I prefer sickle. They just seem to hook better and keep the fish on.

I also pour my own and for what size I use, depends on where I’m fishing. Trolling, #2 normal casting I use #4, and if I get into the grabby stuff I go down to #6. Sickles are all I use. I use a #8 and a 1/64 head with 2 lb test and land fish over 2 lbs. they hook and hold. Hard to find a regular bend hook in my box. They are so sharp that when they bump flesh, they bury. I can go on but I’m fully convinced that a sickle hook is the better alternative. Even use them in salt water in bigger sizes.

a number 6 sickle on a 1/16 or 1/32 ballhead is about a fisheez nightmare if I am dangling it , just saying
I prefer a good sickle hook myself in most cases .

1/0 red sickle, 1/8oz double collar head, 3 inch Keitech Easy Shiner.
Plastics thread on just like any other hook...probably easier due to fine wire.
Like others said...fine wire is sharper, can pull free, hook ups are better...too many benefits!

I just started using sickle hooks this spring and summer. I bought a few 1/32 oz ones in three different colors. I have been very happy with them. They are super sharp and I have been getting really good hook sets with them. I would recommend anybody to at least try them.
