For me, the Jenko baits have been working just a hair better than the Pico. Lately I have fished Big Bear, Little Bear, Sugar Bay, and Demumbers...all were good for about 3 or 4 crappie each time in about a 4 hour trolling session, which isn't many but they were all big ones, and I have had several bass and catfish in the mix too. The crappie I caught have all been at random too, from about the middle of the bay to the mouth. I've been trolling at 1.5 mph, no planer boards, with 80 ft of line out being the best. I set my depth finder to highlight depths between 14 ft and 18 ft deep and try to stay in that range. Little Bear had a bunch of Asian Carp in it the day I fished it, I did not catch a crappie in the area where the Asian Carp were hanging out. My last time out, which was this past Saturday, I did catch a nice crappie on the main lake along the secondary channel in front of Moors, that's been the only one I've caught so far outside of a bay.
Jenko colors:
Midnight Pink
Midnight Chartreuse
Pico colors:
Simply Awesum
Mr. Goodtime
I'm no master at it yet, but that's what has been working for me. If anyone has any additional pointers, I'd love to hear them!
