Thread: Newbie Looking for some help

1/32 sickle hook ball head jigs , 6 lb mono ,fast sensitive 7 foot rod , start in the summer months about 8 to 10 foot deep and work it down slowly ...very slowly
fish any visible cover under the water or above it in 10 to whatever depth . look in the dark shade in the heat of the day on sunlit days .
add scent to the jig in the form of something that's a proven crappie ketchn flavor .
ANYTHING that even slightly resembles something not right on your line means you set the hook HARD , light hook sets will result in lots of lost fish .
reel fast and deliberate after you hook one and never let the line go slack , jerk said fish out of the water and put it in a secure spot quickly if you plan on keeping it .
crappie especially BIG crappie tend to escape the average angler lots of the time .
on a final note ,find a topo of the water you want to target and launch close to steep dropping shores
if you have a graph and you SHOULD for crappie , bunches of fish tight together on cover are likely your quarry
finally and most important if you want to really ketch them you need to go often and learn what where and when .
they can be very frustrating and tricky to ketch sometimes .
