Default Mike & Jeff go to the circus

Up at 0-dark30 Friday and headed to Warsaw. Minnered up and to the dam. A circus it was. Parking was FULL, parking in the field, rigs from Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas and everyone in MO who owned something that would float. Got in line to launch. You could walk bank to bank on the boats in the old river channel below the dam. Finally got the boat in (Jeff's, mine still in the shop). Set up for rigging and commenced to fish. It was slow and several small fish, one spoonbill caused us havoc and a mass rod untangling. Same with all the others out there, slow. Also more wind than the weather geeks predicted. Couldn't stir the boats with a stick. Admitted defeat rigging, put the rods away and moved down past the 7 hwy bridge. We cast jigs & plastic to the riprap and caught a few white bass, a crappie or two, and I got a big goldeneye.
Admitted we had enjoyed all we could stand and trailered the boat.
It turned into a really nice day to be on the water so wasn't a total loss.

"The fishing is always great. The catching varies." Today it varied.

Oh yeah. Seems several didn't know the launch is not free. Lot of those bright pink pieces of paper under windshield wipers. Be advised. Not us, hung the Corps. pass on the mirror.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)

After sunrise the crappie go deep, 15 ft to 20 ft deep.
Which ramp did you use? Guessing the one in the dead water?

One of the best reports I have read. Had a gar do that to our rods one time. We have wanted to fish there but it is a 3 hour drive and don't want to be in a mess of boats like that. Hope to get out to fish Sunday.

That's a nothing like it has been, couple of days I couldn't even turn around unless I went into the main channel and turned around and went back in. On the most part boaters in there were very courteous and easy to get a long with.

Yep. I figured that out, started at 12', dropped our baits to 20', no response. Did use that launch. The one above 7 bridge was well populated. Not so bad at Bledsoe.
I just don't like the hassle. And Jeff's pic was a bit later.

Glad I went to Stockton and Pomme. Fought that battle last week. Agree with Bigby all were well behaved.

Glad to see you guys get out. But that’s a lot of boat traffic.
