There is a method of braiding chenille that makes a flat wide body I recall trying many years back. Gives a bigger body without crowding the gap of the hook too much.

It keeps crossing my mind as I tinker with tying a few jigs here and there, but I cant remember the exact method. Google will find it I'm sure.
