Default Kayak Trip Report, Ditto Landing

I made a short trip to Ditto after work for about 3 hours. Kept half a limit and returned 20 more that would measure including several slabs. Also had about two dozen short fish. The fish were scattered with some males looking for nesting areas, but no bloody or torn up tails. A few came off single pole with a white 1/16oz Marabou jig. The rest were casting a 1" slider on a 1/32oz jig head. I also caught a huge gill, just short of 11".

The water had visibility of about 12 inches and was 63 degrees at 3:30PM.

I put my kayak in the back slough across the road from the boat harbor. It has a hard clay bottom with numerous laydowns. It warms faster than the river and has no current so it's a prime spawning area each spring. Generally no one fishes it, except from the bank. I found out many years ago that small water adjacent a boat ramps never gets fished heavily. No one drags a boat 20 miles to a boat ramp to fish some small back slough, LOL.
