It is hard to catch them if they are not present. Hang in there you are learning patience and preservrence. It has been a tough year. Glad you really got in them. Helps boost your confidence. Remember where, when and conditions that you caught them in. Over time you will begin to rely more on experience and less on gadgets to catch fish. For example, I rely a lot less on electronics than you. When I know depth and types of structure and bottom contours I know all I care to know. I can make a couple of pulls and know if there are active fish. I look for birds and especially shad breaking surface. But darn Brad I'm old and grew up fishing the old way. So what do I know. It was good to spend the day with you guys though. Hated I had to leave before you guys. I would have loved to gone and eat with you. I had to get back over two mountains and put the boat up by myself and wanted to get home before dark. I also had to take some guys on Weiss yesterday. We hit a hot stretch on the way end and I sent charlie and Daddy home with a big mess of fish. See you soon![]()

Yeah, I'm waiting on one of those. I just started pulling jigs and spider rigging in mid to late April last year. I thought I was did pretty good last year as a beginner but we never had a huge day. I'm hoping this year is even better. I had a few days last year where we'd catch close to 30 in an evening which I was tickled with. We caught some sure nuff gooduns last year in late April and early May that had already spawned.
Sounds like y'all had a great day. Coach hit it right on about the electronics, got to learn how to catch them without first. They help a lot but you have to know what you're doing

Love your comment on electronics. I a beginner at crappie fishing and don’t catch many if any most days. But it makes me almost sick when I see one of those live scope videos. Just seems like it’s taking things way to far to me. But thats just my opinion.
