New to Lake Wylie
Hello guys, I’m new to the area and will be living up here through the summer. I am renting a house on the lake and drug my boat up last weekend. Any advice on dangers/hazards of the lake or just general notes that a fellow might need to know would be greatly appreciated. I plan to make my first attempt of fishing this weekend.
I have a boat house so planning on leaving boat there. Looking for dockside fuel and bait.
I am located on the East side across from the nuclear plant. Thanks and good luck fishing!

Welcome to crappie. Com! First thing I would suggest is to get a north Carolina and a south carolina fishing license. That way you can fish the whole lake and not have to worry about the state lines. If you can join us on April 13th for the spring get together.

I'm new to the forum but I have been on the lake for a few years and have it figured out somewhat lol! Mostly the upper end is my expertise but I've been up and down the whole thing...no major hazards to speak of...all of them are marked with buoys. Gas at Tega Cay marina, Lake Wylie marina, Harbortowne marina... as far as bait I honestly don't know if anyone sells it on the water. I always get it other places. Pendletons for example...or the one stop in Belmont. I am sure there are guys on here with much more immense knowledge to share but for now this is what I got! Best of luck and God Bless

Can get on water fuel at the marina just down from ebenizer landing. Can’t remember the name of it not a half mile away. They have rental boat slips. You can’t miss it. At the mouth of little Allison creek

I see your location is Charlotte so I usually get bait at the Grand Prix gas station on 49 beside the Charlotte Fire Dept.

Welcome to CDC, Lake Wylie and SC. Just don't cut across the points and you'll be fine. Some run a good ways out and with the water fluxing up and down since all this rain we've had, it could give you a scare or cost you plenty. Fishing is about to be really good and it seems to have started off pretty good for some of the guys on here. As mentioned about the Spring Fest check out the sticky on the forum. It will give you all the info to have a good time and meet some great people. There is no fee or cover charge so come on out and enjoy . If you like eating then help yourself. There will be a donation jar on one of the tables for the food and gift box for the next get together. Looking forward to meeting you and all the new people of recent and all the un normal regular gangKeep us posted on how you doing and we do like pictures on this forum with all the good detailed information.
