According to a news release from the Department of Conservation, starting March 1, 2019, Wappapello’s possession limit will remain at 30 Crappie however only 15 can be 9 inches or over. The way I read it, you can keep more than 15 under 9 though. That should help the over population of black Crappie that grow slower than the White Crappie. I’d suggest everyone keep as many unders as you can within the regulations to hopefully bring the lake back into balance.
Starting March 1, the daily limit is 30 crappie, but not more than 15 can be greater than 9 inches in length. - Joe@MDC

Good to know if I head that way....
The game warden will have to measure every fish in the box. Bet they love the new rule.
Tell'em I'll be there.MinnowDipper LIKED above post
In the past when I would catch a 5 or 6 inch crappie I would always tell my buddy I would like to keep this and put
it in my garden pond at home. He would always reply "Two hundred dollars", referring to the fine for keeping it.
I guess not anymore...
That's only way to get a lake in balance is to remove lots more of the undersized. had that problem on a private lake wife number 3 had in her family for decades, loaded with undersized, stunted and even deformed bass as they didn't have anyone fishing who kept fish. Me and my fishing buddy would load up the two man boat with bass and filet them up for a couple years and then you started seeing better size and healthier population.
It's what is needed in LSL as you can sit at our dock and catch tons of bug eyes we call em, 4 to 8 inch crappie all you want. anyone in STL area who wants crappie to stock a pond, hit me up and we will fill up your live well or cooler with them as limit is 30 each. At wappepella you should go and catch all you can and help out and if you cook them whole smaller crappie eat up just fine.
