I would talk to Skip (skiptomylu) he can give you all the info and help you need. He also sells them and would treat you fair.

Have an old vise that a buddy gave me that I'm not satisfied with. Doesn't have the capability of rotating. Seems to me it would be beneficial if you could rotate the jig to get head cement in the proper place without getting it all over. What vises do you guys use and recommend. Next door to the tackle shop I hang out is a fly tying shop with a large selection of paraphernalia.

I hear good things about the Regal LedHed is talking about and I also here good things about the Griffin Montana Mongoose, but I have never tied on either of them. I have a Renzetti Saltwater Traveler and is a very good vise and in a decent price range for a good vise and I use mine as my back up because I had it when I saw the vise I tie on which is the Nor-Vise, but they are quite costly. Of the ones we have talked about the Mongoose is a little less than all these. The Peak I have not mentioned is a great vise for the money, probably the best vise at that price. The best Regal is a lot higher cost than the Renzetti SW Traveler so I would take a long loom at it! Much of what you want to do being next to a fly shop is put your hands on these different vises and see what feels right to you.
Now this is pretty old info, but a good way to look at the vises.

You have opened a topic that will give you a great deal of input here
Seems you already have an advantage being close to a fly tying shop
There are a lot of advantages to a rotating vise in more ways than one
Selecting one could lead to how serious one would allow himself
from quality, to cost, to filling ones needs for tying
With a wide selection to choose from
Might I suggest you try and get a hands on at your fly tying shop and go from there

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I will go to the fly shop and talk to the guys there. Why didn't I think of that! I guess it's like asking directions

I have handled more than some when I used to travel, and own a Renzetti Traveler that does everything I’ve ever asked of it. Skip and Ledhed can give better advice than I can. I would look into whatever it is they recommend
