Lake Aquilla is good later in the spring , most of the lakes require a boat to get to the best areas

Most of the bank spots get over run in the spring with the once a year crappie anglers

Spring crappie fishing from the bank can be frustrating. Like Mark said, the known spots will be jammed with people. The creeks can be productive, but it can be some tough walking to find the fish and/or a accessible bank spot that isn’t taken or 10’ above the water. Last year I didn’t get to get out because my mom was hospitalized with a brain cancer spot that spread from her lung in March. This year I’m not sure about my game plan, and I seem to be having some bad juju on top of it. The usual places I targeted with a boat are not accessible otherwise. I’m more so trying to pick out shoreline spots and coves that I can get to. Some are known, but hopefully some aren’t too well known and actually hold some spawners. There’s a lot of water to cover and only so much time. The wind can make spots a little tricky too if it keeps shifting. A place like Benbrook and rocky shorelines comes to mind there. I could easily end up running back to sand bass like an easy ex at some point lol.

The ramp at Alvarado was closed. Not sure if it still is or not. There will be some better info coming soon when things start picking up I’m sure, and people here are friendly. In the meantime, keep fishing where you’re at and try to scout any feeders and coves that you can get to. If for anything to find some spots that might have fish on them shortly. Internet maps help. The bank bite has not been very good so far, for me at least.

Were you out at Cleburne on Saturday morning?

Bardwell and Waxahachie are good crappie lakes that aren’t too far from you. I’m more familiar with sand bass locations from the bank there though. Joe Pool has some creeks, mouths/coves, and shores that are fairly accessible. I haven’t been so I don’t know if there’s any crappie or not.
