There is a reason the spawn is associated with blooming dogwoods. Thats usually when the days are a little longer and the night time temperatures don't drop enough to cool down the water. Maybe it won't be long boys

I know in birds that their reproductive cycle is driven by day length. Coach, I learnt that at Auburn. I don't know if the same holds true with fish or not. I wonder if fish would spawn at 65 degrees even with only 10-11 hours of daylight? I was a poultry guy, not a fish guy. I'd like to know the answer to that though. Maybe the Googles can tell me.

Longer daylight hrs. Triggers the pituitary gland in fish.....this gland then causes hormones to be produced and gets the fish ready to spawn.

I believe it's all of the above. I've seen the moon ,temperature and daylight and weather kick things off in fish, deer and all God creatures. That's why it's hard to predict.

If we don’t get a break from rain and high water in the delta we will miss the spawn like most years but the fish will be fat from crawfish and other backwater critters

It's 80 degrees here today so my theory is that all the fish will spawn today, and it'll all be over tomorrow when the temps drop to the 40's.
EDIT: Sarcasm intended. The record high temp for today was 73, we were predicted to get to 74. It's 80, or was a couple hours ago.

Im hoping it starts to warm up again from the 16th through 23rd as I will be down there for a week to visit my dad and do some bank fishing from the Big G & Madison County Lake.
