Default Broke in my new GLoomis rod yesterday

My first fish on the UL GLoomis I bought last week. 4lb Stren Crappie Mono. Took 55 minutes to get him in the live well. He'd strip drag and sit on the bottom. I couldn't do a thing with him til he finally wore down. Ended up being tail hooked. No wonder I couldn't do anything with him. I don't keep blues and channel cats but every flat head gets a ride. No dip net. If not for a pair of needle nose pliers clamped down on the tail fin, I don't think I would have landed him.

Congrats on the awesome flathead and winning the 55 minute foul hooked battle with that beast on light tackle. I can recall similar battles of my own with lots of channels and blues (most not that big) when I too wondered if I would ever get control of them and be able to get back to crappie fishing. But, if your like me... you gotta love a good hard fight on light tackle. Thanks for sharing.
