I went one night and when I arrived to the lake, it was already dark. I already knew where I was going to set up. I used the gps to go to my spot. When I arrived, I anchored up with hopes of having a good night. When I turned the lights on.......a bright muddy mess! I caught one white perch that night. Personally, I’d wait.

I don't go when it's muddy because light will not penetrate in muddy water and it would be hard to draw bait in. Crappies will bite in muddy water but you'd have to place your hook in front of their nose! Catfishing you might do good if your bait stinks good enough
Go and let us know how you do. I certainly would like to know
We put the lights out and it took about 1 1/2 hours before we had the first fish in the boat. After the first one we would pick up one about every 1/2 hour. So yes they will bite but the bite may be slow but then again I have fished Russell in muddy waters and caught good numbers in Pickens Creek away from the fast running main lake water.
