If you really want to learn how to be a good crappie fisherman, come to some of the Bigeyecrappieman tournaments on Harris, Jordan and Falls. I can personally tell you that the knowledge you learn from your fellow competitors will make you a lot better crappie fisherman. I've seen a lot of average fishermen, like myself, learn from the good guys and been able to catch much better fish. Here's the schedule:

2019 BigEyeCrappieman Crappie Fishing Tournament Schedule

    Jan 19 Harris Lake NC
    Feb 9 Jordan Lake NC
    Feb 16 Jordan Lake NC
    Feb 23 Harris Lake NC
    Mar 9 Jordan Lake NC
    Mar 16 Falls Lake NC
    Mar 23 Jordan Lake
Mar 30 Championship - Falls Lake NC

For proof, here is a picture from a day on Harris pre-fishing for a tournament. One weighed 2.46 and the other one around 2.20. I caught these two within about ten minutes of each other in the same cove. Below my picture is my fishing partner Charles and he caught his first 2 lb. crappie the next day during the tournament.

Man I would love to eventually fish with you and Charles or at least near you..... seems like we always miss each other on the lake. If that is the day I think it is I am a dot a good ways down the lake just to the right of the power pole.

Todobien, I use to fish division 1 and division 9. I also use to be an Admin on Frying Pan Tower.com . I fished the Liquid Addiction which was my boat. I also use to fish with Rod Hog as well. Still grouper fish some now with Joseph Hifco doing commercial trips when work allows it.

Jordanlimit, I hope to get to one of these soon. My fiancé loves to fish so I’m truly a blessed man. Hoping to get her on some of those big number days so she can have a blast.

harris has been a little slow so far. The water temp was 50 last thurs and we havn't had much change., except for more rain.I would suggest long main lake points and fish water 25 to 30ish and also channel edges. What we have been catching have been very nice. Hope this helps Billy Niten Gearwrench Fishing

Thanks Billy. It helps a lot. What I caught out there were very nice as well. 13.5 in and 5 in across. They were thick slabs for sure. Not a lot but nice quality. Will post up when we get home with a report.

Say Everybody, where can a bank fisherman go at Harris to catch crappie? I've been to both boat ramps off and on over the last few years but never caught anything, and I've been to the little pier inside Harris Park and not caught anything there, either. Any good advise will be greatly appreciated, because both Jordan and Falls are still high water and we can't get to the banks to fish where we usually do. Ms. Catfish

Bank fishing could be tough. The crappie have followed the bait to deeper water and that would make it tougher from the bank. Let's see if any other folks have some ideas. Most of the fish are in 25' water or more and it is just hard to cast to water that deep from the shore, but there should be somewhere on the lake that it would work.
