    Default Guntersville or Wheeler Dam

Hello Everyone - looking for input. I have tomorrow afternoon off and want to go fishing at a dam... Not necessarily targeting crappie but want to catch a number....I have never fished Wheeler Dam.

Any suggestions or comparisons and best methods? I think both are pulling 55-65k cu ft/sec...

Good to see you post. Hope you are doing well. Don't know what to tell you about the two dams. Never fished below either one. I would probably take wheeler. Get some live shad and drift for smallies in tail race

I have fished behind both dams and I would prefer fishing behind wheeler as I have some better there

Like coach said, wheeler for small mouths. Lots of action in the fall. I haven't fished wheeler but I have a friend that does. Live shad is going to get all kinds of fish to .

Thanks everyone - went to Wheeler, thought it was going to be a record day after catching a small smallmouth within a few minutes but that was it for me. My wife caught a decent sized stripe but that was it for her...however we did catch a beautiful sunset. Enjoyed the experience and appreciate the input!

Glad yall had a good time. Drift fishing is a art. I'm not the best at it but I have a friend that is a master. He catches a fire out of the on wheeler. I drift for stripped bass at Neely Henry, you have to get the hang of it. I can catch them good if someone is running the boat but if I have to run the boat its a lot harder.

Glad to hear you two got out again. Enjoy it while it last, once that little one shows up, it's a different ball game!
