Default Kayak Trip Report, Madison County Lake

I fished Madison County Lake today, kept 23 Crappie and a hand full of big Shellcrackers. Half the Crappie were caught single pole on brush piles in 12 to 15 feet of water. The other half the Crappie and the bream came of a 1" slider fished 10 to 12 feet deep. The water was 77 degrees at daylight with visibility of about 18 inches. The lake is also about 2 or 3 feet low. Lots of small fish released, fun day.

Sounds like a good day. Some of us are stuck working 6 days a week.

You can put your Kayak in any where you want to. You just have to stop at thy store and buy a fishing permit $3.00 and a Boat launching permit $3.00. The only thing you can't do is drive over the dam. Also check the wall on the outside of the store going in to see the fish keeping limits as they are different than the state limits.

3$ to fish, 3$ more to launch a boat including a kayak. You can slide a kayak anywhere the bank is level.

I went back today and only caught two small Crappie. Yesterday the fish were everywhere hovering just over the brush. This time no fish were showing on my fish finder. Best guess they were down in the brush.

Limit is 20 Bream, 30 Crappie and 6 Catfish. Not sure on the Green carp since I don't keep them.
