The soft plastic baits we use in fresh water are a lot softer than salt water baits. Reds and specks will tare them up in short order.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

update on the salt trip....fished west end of the jetty using cut bait and squid...caught a nice gafftop.....hooked what we presume to be sharks as they provide vicious hits and the line comes back empty.....more to follow....

Continuing on with the story....we had to get back and we were about 12 miles away from the launch. Cranked up.....all running smooth.....it was rough so I was taking it easy..... bout 2 min later the engine quit.....my worst nightmare could be coming to life.....trim didn’t work......nothing worked.......couldn’t get the motor cover off......like that would have helped.....any way we found an extremely nice Alabama couple to tow us in and my nightmare coming true was gonna have to wait for another day......made it back safe and sound.....will check the fuses tonight.......need to flush the motor asap......God washed the trailer all the way home......fisherman are the nicest souls....and good people are all around us.....I am an Alabama fan now too....thanks to that very nice couple that towed us a very long way......

It sounds like you might have more than one thing going on.. Losing power at the Battery would not let the trim work but not stop the motor when it was running
