you should've been reaching for the net instead of the weightI'll bet that smarted just a bit.

At Cranks n Cream you demonstrated how to cleanly and safely remove hooks for one's own self. Well, unfortunately today I had the duty to remove a minner hook from the outside edge on my left hand.
This is what this site and out gatherings are about, sharing knowledge, tactics, skills, and ways to keep us safe to return home to our families.
This 10lb slimer fought hard but got his revenge when I reached for the weight. I felt the hook give some, and about the time my brain and mouth were processing what just happened, that dang cat slung the hook, and it sling shot right into my finger!
Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge as I have never had a hook buried much less buried a 1/2" deep.

Slimers are not welcomed over the gunnel of my boat! Dealt with them for way too many years with my Paw Paw running trotlines.
I compare freshwater fish to steak cuts. When I eat a steak I prefer and 99% of the time choose a ribeye. So, with that said why should I lower my standards with a slimer when my targeted species is the very tasty crappie! The ribeye of the lake!!

Adam did a good job. Glad it helped ya out. Cats can be a pain.
Dutch, can you make a video of it for the ones that didn’t get to see your demonstration?

You’re most welcome! I’m glad that I was able to give back to my circle of brothers in a meaningful way.
Last spring I was unhooking a feisty yellow bass when he flipped and I was soon hooked to the front treble with a flopping white bass on the rear. I just shake them looked with pliers at boatside now-they don’t make it inside. Always keep your diagonal cutters close!
