    Default Early autumn

I know it doesn't feel like it but.... The grass has SLOWED down and the Sycamore leaves are starting to change..... Signs of an early fall!!
My prediction, strictly because old guys rule, is it's gonna be a stellar speck season, everyone stays healthy, good fortune and prosperity comes to all. In addition, I'm gonna practice the "speckanator slot" 11" to 14".... All others may be held hostage long enough to get their picture taken, but eventually set free. Maybe someday 15"/16" or even larger fish will be the norm. It was years ago, but I do remember the monsters from Monroe and Harney.

I'm in with the prediction Micah. I'm looking forward to what I believe will be a good fall bite. I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for October 6. Haven't seen a lot of the folks for a long time. I also like the 11/14 rule. I haven't measured many in recent past. If they don't have good shoulders they go back. Before the river rose I was catching a lot of smaller fish in the out of the way place I had been fishing. This speaks well for times to come. Good things to come.........

Noticing the same around my place. Setting up to be a good year. Looks like I will even get a chance to make a few trips up to South Carolina and hunt some. Camping trips planned out every month. Gonna be a good fall/winter.

My fishing buddy Don has a plastic board exactly 12 inches long with vertical end plates we keep up front by our seats. Gives us a quick way to measure our minimum "keeper" size.

I am looking forward to this season as well. It is off to an early start with reports coming already . I like the 11/14 rule. When I first moved to the area Monroe had a min 12" rule. It did help increase the over all size in the lake.

another good day at the office !

The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
