These are 1/16, but the 2 bottom ones collar will make them heavier. The top two are some I had a guy make for me. I sent him a head to copy and he made a mold for them and I got a bunch for some guys over in Louisiana as they use this a lot. I had them made with #6 Sickle hooks and also had him make as small of a collar as he could and no barb. Had him just make the collar flair out a little at the end. These are close to 1/16 and not over!

    Nice!

Where do you get your kip tail? I need to try some, I’ve only tied with squirrel tail. How does it compare with squirrel tail?

    Good looking jigs.

Thank you guys! I have bought kip tail from a lot of places over the last 12-14 years, but my best ones usually have been from Hareline. However all suppliers have tails, but not all created equal! So probably need to order by phone and ask them to make sure it’s ones with longer hair, some have too short hair!
Squirrel tail hair is nice to tie with and is always long enough, but both work in same kind of jig. Kip tails are more popular I believe and many just use it all the time! One of the reasons I tied these or what peaked my interest again was a old guy that lives near me said his favorite jig of all was a Black and Yellow kip tail jig. He gave me one so I tied a few for him, two with kip tail and one with Fox. I will show the fox soon.

i also have collected a whole tote full of kip tails over time so I have more than I will ever use!

Nice jigs Skip. I like the heads on the top two. I too got on the kip wagon once and could tie for a long time and not run out. The stuff is tougher than you would think. I've seen some that caught so many fish that there was only 5 or 6 hairs and they were still catching fish. Go figure.

Thank you Skeet, I even use my Softex (which is nasty stuff) to glue the thread neck and I put it 360 degrees and include a touch of the hair base so think these hair will have even a harder time of coming out.
