When I saw this yesterday I figured 100 miles was a little far to get some worms. there are a dozen big trees here that gets several hatchings. It has been several days since I went out to look at them. Fire Ants get so many when they hit the ground---- he would need to go on a program to wipe out the ants or any worms he might obtain would never become the Moth that lays the eggs.... the soil also needs to be sandy where they can burrow quickly into the ground.

Hard to beat the real thing but if you can't find any and you are a jig fisherman and tie your own jigs, i seen your post and tied these. Its a pretty simple pattern to tie.

Welcome to the board! I'm from the area as well, and last year or the one before, a gentlemen named Fred Rankin from Benton made a post that he had worms if anyone wanted to come get some. My daughter and I drove out, and he did indeed have them everywhere that year, and was very nice about sharing them. Also saw a recent post from him about figs in fact, so I assume he's still browsing C.C

I can't speak on his behalf, but watch for posts when the worm season is happening, in case he does offer again. He had numerous large trees in his yard.

It’s getting late for worms. There were some about a month ago.

I just checked our trees and the leaves are getting ready to soon get another round or the worms.... found a couple of recently stripped leaves -- we usually have 4 hatchings

That’s a good looking jig. I need to get into tying my own. Can’t find anything like that here.
