Thread: stckle type hooks

Sickle hooks are no more so you don't need worry about their barb any longer. Eagle Claw Makes the Lil Nasty Jig hooks. I would think anyone you use to get the Sickles from now has the Eagle Claw hooks! I am sure all the guys are using them now so should be easy to get someone?

I think matuzo went out of business

Matzuo is no more. Most tyers will have to go with Eagle Claw Lil' Nasty for sickle style hook. Had a customer complain on repeat order of jigs that they didn't hold minnows on like previous order. She sent one of the earlier jigs back for comparison. Larger barb than other hooks. Both Matzuo.

Did a jig swap a few months back. Surprised of all the different barb sizes on the Matzuo hooks.

Anyway, sent her some samples with Lil' Nasty, but about the same results. Just don't think either makes a good minnow hook.

I personally swapped to EagleClaw lil nasty when they first came out. I think they hold the minnow better and hook better. Mustad has a scykle hook out now that is supposed to have a better Barb. Have heard mixed reviews on the first production hooks. Next order I'm going to order a few and see how they are. But like Skip said your original supplier should be using one or the other for sickle hooks.
