Pulling cranks, no thanks!

We got a late start yesterday and got on the water about 10. Set out some noodles baited with chicken hearts and fished them till about 1:30, then headed down the lake and started pulling cranks. Caught more catfish than crappie but did manage to put 6 crappie in the box. Caught most of them in 13 to 16 ft. Water pulling picos, bandits, and arkies from 55 to 80 ft. Of line out. I guess I've been lucky. No crankbaits lost this trip.

Were you marking any? If so, how deep?

I'll admit it has been a couple years since I pulled cranks but I think I used to let out a lot more line than that. With 4 poles I usually started them at 50, 70, 90, and 110 and then adjusted based on which pole was catching fish. I wasn't getting limits but I always caught fish. That was with 10 or 12 lb mono at 1.3 to 2.0 mph.

Saw a lot of fish on my screen but with all the large shad, hybrid stripers, and catfish out there I can't tell what they are.
