    Default Got out today

Got to the ramp at 6 am cause I couldn’t sleep.
Anyway my plan of attack was longline somewhere and then fish brush somewhere.
Put in Big Allison, checking out a cove, no bait pods, kept going.
Got to my ole favorite brush pile and had to try it, NOTHING.
    Went to Charles’ tree. NOTHING.
Then I remembered what Oldfish taught me:

After plugging in the wind and water temp I headed to Torrence!

Longlining there for an hour got 3 but it was s l o w.
    Headed for brush piles nearby
    Got this

    14.5 inches, didn’t weigh it

    Total was 9
Mostly on minnows and a friendly slip float
    Some on jigs, no minnows

I find it strange that fish will be hitting minnow s then suddenly quit but will bite a jig

I think I hung a gar today too.
It took off, no head shaking, never came up, broke the line

Brett, we almost went looking for crappie and made our mind up at the ramp to go for perch. You did good finding a few. They are deep and on brush from what I hear from the day time guys. We found them in 30 foot of water last weekend suspended on and around brush. You got to be long lining at day break for the shallower fish. We will get something up soon for the middle of the week for perch. They are there and bunched up in different depths. Thanks for the info on the crappie.
We will have to gang up on them.

Nice plan and adjustments that got you a mess of fish in the boat. Well done!

    Here’s the other interesting detail:
On the whole, the 20’ deep area was loaded with bait and (guessing) crappie. They had to be there. It was only 7 am.
Anyway after one complete loop of longlining with seeing bait and very few bites, I added 1/8 oz split shot to my 1/16 jigs.
Result-Not one bite on the deeper jigs.
Tried slowing down and speeding up, nothing.
Next time I add more weight, 1/4 oz?
