    Default Saline/Larto can be humbling!

Went to the camp over the weekend and even though it was extremely hot, we made a trip on Saturday. My wife and kid did not want to wake up early, so I made a solo trip that morning. First stop yielded 13 sacs in about 30 minutes in 6’ of water. Seven of them were keepers, however, I dropped one on the deck of the boat and he flopped back in the water in all the excitement. As soon as I tell myself that I’m gonna tear them up, the bite stopped like I turned off a light switch. I moved to several spots after that, but could not find the bite again except for 1 catfish. Talk about humbling.

Headed back to the camp about 10 to regroup and get a bite to eat. Took the family back out about 1 and it was much of the same; could not find the bite, so we fished for bream for while. We were doing pretty good with that, but it was very hot and the complaining started, so it turned into a swimming and boat riding afternoon. All in all, still got a nice mess.

I went there a couple of days ago and only managed 6. None of them were very big.

Yeah. Catching a lot of small ones right now. I think it is a good sign of what is to come. I caught a lot of small ones after the 2016 flood; and 2017 ended up being one of my best years ever on the lake catching quality fish in numbers. Hoping the trend is the same this time.

The flood took away our Spring fishing. Hope it will pay off down the road. High water usually brings a good spawn. Heat is almost unbearable now. Looks like 10:00 and to the camp until Sept.

Yeah it sure is hot. Time start doing a few things around the camp to get ready for hunting season anyway. May try to make a night stalk or two in the next few weeks.
