Default Lake st. John 5-24 thru5-28

Family vacation was a sucess this year on lake st. John in ferriday. Although I never did find the sac-a-lait, the early morning bass bite was there. My dad and brother in law drowned crickets the whole time. The got about 80 catfish and and few bream (just werent biting for some reason). I caught 10 bass over the 3 mornings I fished and my dad came one mornimg and caught 2. The first one almost claimed one of my poles out of his hands. Lol, but not really. The two bigger ones weighed 3.25lbs.

I want to thank GoFish88 for the tips on the sacs, I just couldnt get on them. Besides the boat traffic was brutal!

This will be the last time we go on a holiday weekend. Ther were some guys spider rigging out there and I could only imagine the wave action.

Everyone had a good time. My 5 yr old girl had a good time throwing crickets in the water and making me fish with her pink princess pole. She didnt catch any this trip. I guess the neighbors pond has her spoiled. I really cant blame her, it was hot and wavy for her. But she is ready to go again. Name: 20180526_092707(0).jpg

Glad y'all had a great time except for boat traffic. Wish I could have been more helpful. Yeah next time make sure it's not on a holiday. Great mess of fish tho.

The gnats were not that bad. I had some spray and my mom made a giant jug of home made spray. It helps for about 30-45 min.

As far as the catfish they were all rod and reel. They were near the bank between the cypress trees and grass line on the bank. The grass lines with out trees off of them did not produce. We were supprised to not catch any small ones. Maybe 2 the whole time. All were about the same size.
