Default Lake Murray Fishing Help or buddy.

I am from NH and now live in FL. I just purchased a second home on Lake Murray and I am having a hard time figuring out this lake. I use to bass fish in NH, but on much smaller bodies of water. I also would like to learn how to fish for stripers. If anyone is looking for a company while fishing let me know. I can fish mostly midweek and sometimes on the weekends. Usually the kids show up on weekends. I am happy to pay expenses or I have a combo deck and fish boat

Murray is one of the easiest lakes to learn for striper fishing. What part of the lake are you? If you even half way decent electronics, 90% of the fish will be stacked up in the lower lake from June until September. Downrods with live bluebacks is the ticket. Stripers actively school from September thru May so just keep your head up until you learn some spots.

I would definitely take a look at khnc's post for murray. The electronics and finding the herring will definitely help putting the fish in the boat. I probably wont fish this weekend as the forecast looks like rain all weekend. May fish crappie around wateree, but not sure. I can only fish weekends also.

Midlands Striper Club a good bunch of guys. Look them up on Facebook or the web. They meet monthly and have regular tourneys. Great way to learn the lake and the fish.

Default Lake Murray Fishing Help or buddy.

Lots of good info already posted. The key to striper and bass on Lake Murray is finding the bait. This time of year concentrate on the mid to lower lake area from Buffalo creek to the dam. Dreher island to bear creek area has been hot for schooling striper recently. If you find schooling fish on and around points throw topwater baits and swimbaits to them, but be careful to not get too close to the school or it'll bust them up in that clear water.

Starting in June when the real heat sets in you can find lots of striper on humps in the lower lake area. Concentrate from bear creek to the dam and look around humps in around 50 foot of water but don't be scared to look shallower or deeper. Trust your electronics. You'll see the fish. Fish live herring on down rods and you'll have plenty of fun. You can always charter one of the many guides on the lake and they'll give you lots of good info. There's plenty of them striped fish in the lake so you'll figure them out before long.
