Default A tale of two lakes

Decided to get an early start and fish cave run on Saturday. My buddy Caleb and I loaded up the boat and were on the water at cave run by 730. Fished till noon with only 1 small crappie to show for our efforts. We tried trolling and casting with no luck. The lake was very rough. Wind was making for a lot of white caps on the lake and it was a little scary since I’ve never been out in conditions like that. Caleb made a joke that we drove all that way to fish cave run when we could have gone 20 minutes away and fished Grayson lake and probably done great. I said “well, we gotta pass Grayson to go home anyway”. So, we loaded up the boat, got lunch, and headed to Grayson. Turned out to be a great idea! Caught 60+ fish and the bite was consistent all day. Most fish were caught pitching frisky frogs (all different colors) at brush near the bank. Caught about 10 or 12 fish trolling and they seemed to prefer dark colored jigs.
Kind of disappointing tho, we caught 60+ fish yesterday and only 1 was over 9inches. Was hoping to have some for dinner. Most fish were in the 4-6 inch range. Had 2 that measured 8.5 inch and 1 that was 9 and a quarter inch. I wish Grayson would have a size limit. I know a bunch of people that fish there who keep everything they catch. You catch lots of fish, but they are all very small. All in all, a very good day. Fished for almost 14 hours. I’m whooped lolName: IMG_9036.jpg

Don't feel too bad, Jesse ... I've done the same thing on Taylorsville a time or two, as far as catching 40 or 50 fish and "maybe" have one or two keepers (barely) out of the bunch.

    Thanks for the report/pics !!

Thank for the info you gave me pappy. I tried the area you spoke of and it was packed. Lots of other people trolling the area. Nobody seemed to be catching.
