Default Had to punt on Nader this year

With the water 15-18’ high this year, I had to find new water. Some people finally caught some in the trees later, but it was too dang aggravating for me. Half mile walks through the water flooded timber and bushes and fire ants and snakes and grass and all that crap was too much for me. Putting in that kind of effort for four bites an evening was an excessive beat down only Nader could give.

These water conditions and the weather for a weekend warrior like myself made it tougher than I could handle.
So I punted and went back to my boyhood fishing spot on Columbus lake. I used to fish mostly for bass with my brother and dad, but we would crappie fish once or twice a year for crappie in the springtime on Columbus. Let me say a lot can change in 20+ years. Grass has taken hold on the main lake and is a lot worse now. Also, don’t fish on Thursday afternoons. They have a dang bass tournament with about 50-60 boats. What did NOT change was the same tactics and spots for catching them.
I had a good time fishing the lake after all these years and managed to catch a few. The size difference was noticeable, but the greater number of bites on Columbus was apparent as well. I “cheated” and only used slip corks n minners. I haven’t used minners (or pork chops as I call) them in years, and NEVER on Nader because I HATE babysitting. I could not get the jig bite to happen at all on Columbus. I have no idea why they wouldn’t hit a jig, but whatever.
Anyway here are some pics of a mediocre late spring.

It looks like I am going to have to long line or pull cranks this summer to catch any on Nader this year.

Nice catch guys, them big fish are fun to catch, but the smaller ones are the best eaters. Looks like you got a few goodun's mixed in as well.

Sometimes you just got to do what you got to do. Glad it worked out.
