Default Anyone catching any nice gills or crackers, yet?

It's been tough, like really tough for us to even catch decent bluegill. We went out yesterday morning to several spots that have always been productive for us in the past and it was struggle city. We caught a couple of nice bluegill and two catfish, that's about it.

I'm thinking that the big fish just aren't up yet. With the new moon approaching, I'm sure that'll change. I would think that the gills/ears will be hitting good by the end of this week. Thoughts?

I got an invite from a buddy who was on good numbers of good fish. We got on them this AM due to me having an open date. This is my part of the catch. I turned back all females that weren’t deep hooked and bleeding. Probably threw back 5-6 females including one well over 2 pounds. No pics Name: IMG_1391.jpg

You are right on target ! They are running behind in a lot of places. I went out this morning scouting beds that’s always produced and majority of them haven’t been cleaned out yet! BUT they was a quite a few that they have started to clean out and they were several fish around them but real spooky but that will change by the end of the week they will settle down and when they get them beds cleaned out! Look out it be on!

It was sad to be criticized for releasing females by others fishing close to us. I’ve done that for 25 years and whether it matters or not it’s my choice just as it’s others choice to keep the females they catch. Most of the females looked like they were ready to spew eggs.
