Thread: LP 04 28 18 Know where the 11" CNBG are - need to find the 12s

Now that's a problem I would like to have. Stuck catching 11 inchers and not getting the 12's. I could stand about a month of that. Real nice fish Sonny, thanks for the pics.

so are them brush tops in the photos in that deep of water is my question or are you sitting off a brush line in 12 foot of water ?

These fish are tearing up the Baitfish. Guide and a pro were fishing around me - not very long - trying to figure out what I was doing. Told them to get some Chub Belly Spinners.. Caught 5 Bass that got in the way yesterday.

You have to come out to SoCal Redge.

Water level is up ~13' - I've been fishing the outside of an old road bed from 12 to 22 FOW. They are going to raise again, not sure when, and those tree tops will be under water. We are getting ready for a fish explosion...
Suppose to have winds all week - not good.

We keep catching large bass on the roadrunners and mostly getting our hat handed to us. I rigged up a UL rod with 8lb. Power Pro braid and tied a 1/16th. oz. roadrunner on there just for bass. Now I'm landing them mostly all the time. A huge carp hit the RR yesterday and went under the boat and broke the braid, this fish was well over 10lbs. and when that braid hit the boat it broke right away. We are catching bass in dirt shallow muddy water on the little RR all day. We are truly fortunate to have this fishery.

LedHead ... that fish in the second pic (need to sit on these) is a female Red Ear Sunfish (aka Shellcracker). Are they prevalent in your waters ??

CP - I would call it a male because of the tuxedo and the body is thinner. Plus it was close to CNBG beds. Our Shellcrackers don't get a the bright red ear - some of the other So Cal lakes do. Right now the females are taller/thicker and not as dark. There are lots of Red Ear in LP, they have crossed with the CNBG and the Green Sunfish. We like to fish for the Red Ear at Lake Havasu - they get huge at that lake. My PB there 3lb9oz. I seen junglejim catch a 4lb9oz Red Ear there.... They got crazy big hybrids too.

There are some better lakes in San Diego for panfish - to far for me. I hear they've been catching 3lb BGs - probably Coppernose. Also heard there was supposed to be a 7lb Red Ear caught up at Lake Havasu....
