    Default Taylorsville Lake Weekend Report

Went out Saturday morning around 7:00am. 56 degree water. Fish were in large schools scattered from 20 to 25 foot of water around 10' deep. We got our limit but took to 3:00 in the afternoon to do it. We longline with Jiffy Jigs. By late afternoon water was up to 58. Keepers were nice size. We only kept 11" and above. Caught lots bigger then that. Overall, not a ton of dinks.

Sunday was totally different. Found no large schools of crappie but large schools of bait. Of course we caught crappie when we found the bait. Again 20 foot of water about 10' down. We were 5 short of a limit but tossed probably 60 dinks.

Their staging right now. Wont be long. Personally a suggest everyone go to Rough or Nolin and stay away from Taylorsville so I have more space to maneuver. However, lake is producing some fish and next year will be even better.

Good Job, buddy !! It's good to see that the 10" size limit may not be the big spoiler that I was afraid it might be.

And don't worry about me crowding in on you ... I'll be at Green this coming weekend, and won't have a chance to hit Taylorsville until next week at the earliest.

As many dinks as I tossed back last year, I knew this year would be great if I could get on the water. Even better knews is there are plenty of keepers and plenty of smalls ones growing up behind them.

Tried longlining there Sunday for 1st time and lost too many jigs in trees. Heck we were in 50ft and getting tree tops. Did caught a few and 1 Ky lake quality crappie, 1.9 lbs . didn't tville had that kind of fish.

I would have to see where you fished and how you fished to see if it was user error, but I lose jigs too. I figure if you aren't getting snagged you aren't where the fish are. However, as deep as they were it was probably just where you were. I have honestly never put a 2lber in the boat from Tville but some close one. Congrads on such a large fish.

Yeah, there have been several 2lb range fish caught & reported about from Taylorsville ... in the past. But, 2015 & 2016 had the greatest number of 13-14-15" caught from there, that I've ever experienced ... and I've fished the lake ever since it was opened.

    Here's a sample of a limit from 2016 ... in my Gott 34 cooler:

Nice. We caught 2 this weekend that were in the range of 1.5 to 1.75 lbs.
