    Default Ouachita River info needed

    Not looking for hotspot info
Wondering where’s the best places to stay. Are there any campgrounds or cabins close to forsythe park boat ramp?
It’ll be the first time I’ve been there and not familiar with area.
Plan on starting prefishing trips soon and don’t want to book a motel and wake up with all my poles and equipment gone.

If anyone has any suggestions would you please PM them to me? Thanks in advance

The Boat ramps in Monroe are under 10 feet of water Motels are in West monroe and your gear has to be brought into the room.. the only ramp I know that is open is at Sterlington 20 miles to the north .. there is no motel there .. your best bet would be to fish Poverty Point

I was looking for a campground or state park near there. I want to reserve a spot for late June

As for lodging, I would also recommend Poverty Point State Park in Delhi, La. They have a nice campground and a good, clean bathhouse. The majority of spaces are full hookups. The fishing that time of the year for Crappie is usually pretty bad. Can not recommend. This is about 35-40 minutes east of Monroe and just off I-20. It is a secure location with a gate that has to have an entry code after park closes at night. The phone# for the south entrance where the campground is located is (318) 878-7536. All reservations are handled by a nationwide agency that can be found online.

10-4. I’m planning ahead for the ACT in June. Thanks for the info.
I’ve been watching the river at Monroe and seen where it’s big right now. Good info on it now being usable at current level.
What’s the highest you can use forsythe park ramp?

There is nothing real close (walking distance) to the river for camping, the two nearest are a campground east of Pecanland mall (south side of interstate) or one off of Well Road in West Monroe. They are about the same distance from Forsythe and both are decent and well kept.

The ramp that will probably open first is where The D'Arbonne River empties into the Ouachita on the west side then on the east side called Moon Lake... Both landings are several miles up river --- you can look at them on Google Earth

I was piddling around on the other end of the Ouachita this afternoon. Up near Mena, Arkansas. The river is perfect up here, clear, plenty of water, and the fish were biting. I caught a few bass, both largemouth and smallmouth, plus a few bream. All on road runners.

If the river is falling pretty good while you are there, it will be a great time. One of my favorite places to fish. The river lakes should be producing if its falling
