Default What A Difference A Lake Makes

Cherokee is my home lake but I do like to venture over to Douglas ever so often just to see what is happening over there. Known for its numbers of Crappie, the old girl did not disappoint this morning. Water temperatures were right in line with the Indian (60-62) and the males were already busy setting up shop, preparing and guarding the shallow nests. I catch mostly White Crappie over there and today was no exception, with at least 25 dudes thumping the jig with authority and greeting me with their awesome display of breeding colors. I kept 15 of which I think I one was a hybrid Black/White mix. No minnows were harmed as the Crappie on that lake seem to be hungry and will thump a plastic or hair jig without live bait. I used several sprays of Slab Sauce off and on and it definitely made a difference when they seemed to slow down.

Hybrid Mix Male? Not really sure about this one, was a Male but did not have that Black Crappie look. Did not count dorsal spines.

You’ve got two good lakes right there at your disposal. Congrats on a good day!
