Illsay it again. CRAP. Met the Minnow truck at baits and blooms today to pick up 2500 minnows for my pond. They said they would be fine in a large cooler if I put ice on them. Well crap everyone died before I could get them to pond. Now they don't know me. Go figure.

You dont want those in your pond anyway....or the crappie either....don't ask me how I know. If you would have stocked them with black hybrid crappie you would have been ok and you could have fed them floating catfish food. Your crappie are going to get stunted....and you will have 2 jillion crappie about 4 to 5 inches long....you will have minnows a foot long.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Wishing everyone hard hits tight lines and heavy stringers
It was worth a try. For me. I have no interest in catfish or bass. We will be removing fish this year. I Caught ten 12" inch fish outa there sun
I'd be pretty ticked about that, especially since they told you they'd be alright.
Lee I got pretty heavy into pond management strategies when we built our pond here in 99. Crappie can be managed in a pond just like any other fish. The key to it is to keep every one you catch. It would be very, very hard to over harvest them in a pond after a couple years of spawning. I was pretty heavy into bass fishing back then. Growing big bass and growing big crappie are very similar, with the exception that crappie are much more prolific and will over run a pond quickly.
I have no interest in catfish either but a larger predator than crappie will help keep the population in check.
Are those fathead minnows, toughies or shiners?
Fathead minnows are perfect for a pond.
If you're interested in managing the pond for trophy fish a call to, and visit from, Southeastern Pond Management would be well worth the cost.
Crap, that's messed up
