Hopefully it will pass and become law and we can shake off the map of 1812!

I was at the meeting and there were passionate discussions on both sides. The testimony in favor of the landowners (against the bill) was compelling and almost all legally based. In my opinion it will take thousands of people contacting each representative asking for support for the bill. Without that I think it will be almost impossible to get passed. It is time to get involved and ask everyone you know who has a boat or fishes to do the same.

The other thing I want to point out is that for the bill to have any chance of passing it is critical for the people outside the coastal parishes to get involved. The committee members from the northern part of the state said they were not affected by the issue and asked questions to better understand it. Those opposed to it were all from coastal parishes and were paid professionals who no doubt are focusing on support from those areas. The wild card will be support from people outside those parishes asking their representatives to support the bill. Please get involved. Ask all of the junior and high school Bassmaster kids and their families to contact their reps. It is much easier these days with all the social media and email than it was when everyone had to write letters and few of us would.

I have mixed feelings on this bill. If it passes, boaters will be able to fish in my mom and dads back yard, literally right behind their house. The water comes in through the bayou, which is tide controlled, and through another pond before it dumps into their pond. I just ask that you get ALL the facts before making a rush judgement.

I also have mixed feelings but tend toward public access with proper limitations. Your concern was voiced by several people and at the close the author said he wanted to work with all parties to find an agreeable solution that works best for everyone. In today's world that may be more difficult than world peace but it is certainly the proper approach.

Seems like its a little late for that, shouldn't the author of the bill have taken this into consideration before bringing it up for vote?

Bill was defeated in the House 58-38.
