Default Did I say it was windy?

Was scheduled to work yesterday but the workload was light and they offered me the day off. Don't threaten me with a good time!! About 0630 I headed out to a different stretch of the river than I've been fishing, and to visit a few places that I hadn't been to in a while. Well, the boss might have given me the day but Mother Nature was going to make me work for it. Shortly after the sun showed up, so did the wind. I didn't get too concerned because I was "hiding" in the river, right? I wish I knew how to write the sound one makes when blowing a raspberry cuz it would fit in here. I hit a few fish pretty quick, and 2 went in the box. Fish dinner? Good start. Couple of throwbacks and it slowed down. Moved on downriver and pulled up to a place that I don't remember fishing before and it played out very well. 1st drop, dink. Second drop, 1.25lbs. Now this is looking like it's going to work out well, but here is where it gets stooooopid! The wind was now not just a breath now and then but 10 to 15 steady and gusting to around 20, maybe more. My boat does real well in the wind and it was being thrown around like an aluminum boat, no such thing as staying in place. Tried tying off and the branch I tied off to broke off. So much for that. Caught fish pretty steady, or at least enough to make me happy, but then the fun just got up and left. This boat control thing was getting out of hand. I figured that I had a few in the box and had a good time so far, so lets not push it. Boat traffic was getting heavier so I wrapped up and headed back. 5 fish with good shoulders in the box, I remembered that I had a cabinet (of the large variety) to move shortly after I got home. So they got a pass and seeded the spot for the next trip. On the trailer shortly after noon, and a couple of quick errands along the way home and gas up for next time. Looks like a rainy forecast so that won't be today, I don't think. Thanks for going along today, I sure enjoyed the trip. Til next time.........Skeet

    Yep,
Heard the forecast and chickened out! Not brave enough to get out there, in my little boat!
Glad you got out for a bit .

I'm good for about 4 hours of it till it finally wears me down.
Dosent seem as though it will ever end this year.
I just bought an 8' length of heavy log chain.
Hopefully that will slow me down enough when drifting with the wind.

    Glad you got out Skeetbum.
Being from Oklahoma, as Yo said, after about 4 hours that wind just ticks me off.

Skeet you sure do tell a good story. Thank you for the read.
The best thing my dad ever gave me was his love of fishing.
