    Default Caught a tagged crappie!

First fish of the day at Horseshoe and it was tagged! I didn’t examine the tag until I was done for the day, then saw it was a $5 tag. If I had known that, I probably would have released it for someone else to catch. I didn’t know that the reward amount was printed on the tag. Sure were a lot of people out there today!

I think those waterfowl studies are mostly interested in movement but I’m not 100% sure. On the Horseshoe study the main purpose is to look at what percentage of tagged fish are harvested. This helps us determine if a minimum length limit will be appropriate. If harvest is too low, fish will become stunted below or right around that length limit. Not sure if it will work but here’s a link to an article that D10 wrote that explains length limit use for crappie.

So how long do you expect to know something from the study?
