Gunntersville
Well my wife and i planned on fishing KY lake this weekend but due to the weather have changed our plans to drive dwn to Guntersville lake. We have never been there before. We plan on crappie and catfishing for 4 days around the state park area. Looking to see how the fishing has been and any other helpfull information. Thanks from Indiana.

Town creek is a good area. Crowd gathers around the bridge early. Lot of tree tops above and below the bridge that usually hold fish. Somebody else will have to report on how the fishing has been lately, but i normally do ok fishing that area this time of year.

Some of the bigger crappie are out trying to spawn now so anywhere you can find the milfoil/grass sprouting in about 3 to 6 ft of water long lining or pushing should give you a chance to catch some. .Start out in the deeper water going into the shallow as they like to hang out over that when these cool nights drop the temps a bit but they will stay close to the spawning areas. The water really hasn't stayed at the magical 60 to 64 degrees yet for any length of time at least on the middle to lower end of the lake so if the temp will stay about 60 to 62 in the water they will be turning on. Bank fishing around most of the bridges from Town creek to south sauty and across over to 79 bridge is good for an early bite (before sun up)

Fished 4 days. Wow. Rough 4 days. Me and the wife figured a lot out but did not catch much. Had a great time down in your state. Thanks for the help. I think ill look for the crappie book for dummies before i come back.

When you go back to Town Creek, tight line about 8-12 ft. with minnows. Throw a double jig rig setup with Bobby Garland Baby Shad about 12" apart. 1/32 oz. Pink or Orange or Chart jigheads. I nailed em on my last trip with 1/32 orange jighead/sickle hook with cajun cricket and chart jighead 1/32 blue ice. They wouldn't touch monkey milk with pink head. I guess they done got used to seeing them. Lol. But if you are banking, go to the BIG ROCK/"Magic Rock" and cast to the bridge pylon and go with bobber and minnow set to 5ft. THUMP! To post up under the bridge you will need a board 5 ft long to tie off to the boat to stable it. You will need a pole to put the boards up.
